The Baron Steinheil Estate is located on present-day Yaroslaviv Val Street, 3 (formerly Velyka Pidvalna Street).
In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, it was home to Baron Magnus Steinheil — an entrepreneur and member of Kyiv’s wealthy social circle.
The building is easily recognized by its striking balcony supported by wrought-iron columns, which extends over the sidewalk and gives the street an almost European arcade-like atmosphere. This architectural feature not only decorated the façade but also emphasized the owner’s status.
Baron Steinheil owned a winemaking business on the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus and sold his products directly in Kyiv.
His wine shop operated in the building on Yaroslaviv Val, combining residential and commercial functions — a typical example of an urban estate belonging to a prosperous entrepreneur of that era.
Today, the building remains an important part of the street’s historic environment and serves as a reminder of Kyiv’s commercial and social life at the turn of the 20th century.
