The monument to Anne of Kyiv is a bronze sculpture dedicated to the Kyivan princess, daughter of Yaroslav the Wise, who at around the age of eighteen became the wife of French king Henry I of France and entered history as Anne of Kyiv, Queen of France.
The sculpture stands in Anne of Kyiv Square at Lvivska Square and depicts a young Anna in full height. She is dressed in a mantle, wears a wreath-like crown, holds the Gospel tightly to her chest, and stands barefoot. The sculpture itself is about one meter high, while the total height of the monument reaches approximately two meters.
The monument was officially unveiled on November 10, 2016, in the presence of ambassadors from several European countries, including the French ambassador to Ukraine. It became the first monument within the large international project Queen’s Way Project, under which replicas of the sculpture are installed along the route Anne once traveled from Kyiv to France.
In 2018, another version of the monument appeared in Toulouse, while an additional replica was transferred to Krakow for installation — a reminder of the ancient ties between Kyivan Rus’ and Europe.
