Stritenska Street has been known since 1784 and received its name from the Stritenska Church, which stood here until 1936, when it was demolished by the Soviet authorities and never rebuilt.
The street has preserved much of its late 19th- and early 20th-century architectural appearance, giving it a distinctive charm amid the modern city.
The hidden treasures of the street are no less fascinating than its façades. In 1996, during construction work near building No. 10, archaeologists uncovered traces of a Trypillia culture settlement — evidence that people lived here thousands of years ago.
